27.2. What is the function of leveling?

Due to the parallel staggered and overlapping straightening rollers, the steel strip passing through it can be repeatedly elastoplastic deformed, and under the condition of large elastoplastic bending, no matter how different the original bending degree of the metal material is, after repeated bending and elastic deformation by the leveling roller, the difference in the remaining bending degree on the pipe billet will be significantly reduced, or even tend to be the same. With the decrease of repeated bending, the residual bending after springing will inevitably gradually tend to zero, and the pipe billet will gradually tend to straighten, and finally obtain a flat steel belt that can fully meet the requirements of the production process on a macroscopic level.
