This method allows the ingots to reach higher temperatures for melting. Given that the molten zinc at these zones is inherently hotter than the central portion, the ingots not only melt faster but also help balance the temperature difference between the two ends and the middle section. As practical experience suggests the temperature fluctuation should not exceed 2-3°C, zinc ingots are always fed directly from the high-temperature zones at the pot's ends.
