Characteristics of Spiral Welded Pipe Production

Spiral welded pipes are formed by pre-bending and continuously bending steel plates or strips on a forming machine to create a tubular shape with spiral seams. The production of spiral welded pipes is characterized by long weld seams and high production speeds, making them suitable for the manufacture of large-diameter welded pipes.

Spiral welded pipes can be classified into various types based on different criteria, mainly including:

(1) Classification by Adjustment Method of Forming Angle:

Front-swing type and rear-swing type.

(2) Classification by Material Feeding Method of Forming Machine:

Upper-roll type (less commonly used, only in special circumstances)

Lower-roll type (more commonly used)

(3) Classification by Forming Method of Forming Machine:

Lower-roll bed forming machine

Sliding friction full sleeve forming machine

Combined roller sleeve forming machine

Rolling friction full roller sleeve forming machine

PRD forming machine (invented by PRD Company in the United States, capable of continuously adjusting pipe diameter)
