The production equipment for spiral welded pipes typically consists of an uncoiler, a leveling machine, a shear, a disc shear, a feeder, guide plates, a forming machine, internal and external welding machines, a plasma cutting machine, etc.
Uncoiler: During operation, the steel strip is placed on the support rollers, which rotate to drive the steel strip. The cone head cylinder clamps the steel strip to stabilize it, and the stripping head opens the head of the steel strip, thus realizing the uncoiling process.
Leveling Machine: It feeds the steel strip unwound from the uncoiler forward and levels the steel plate. The pinch rolls and leveling rolls are driven by motors through gearboxes and connected by universal shafts for full active leveling. The leveling rolls are arranged with four on top and three on the bottom. To enhance leveling capacity, support rolls are set above and below the leveling rolls. The drive motor is equipped with a clutch, which opens when the steel strip is fed to the feeder, enabling passive leveling.
Shear: The shear is mainly used to cut the head and tail parts of the steel strip. This is because, in continuous production, the head and tail parts of the steel strip are often unsuitable for direct welding into spiral welded pipes due to various reasons (such as non-standard size, poor surface quality, etc.). Therefore, the shear needs to accurately remove these unqualified parts to ensure the smooth progress of subsequent welding processes.
Disc Shear: It continuously shears the strip by utilizing the shearing force of two circular blades, one above and one below.
Feeder: In the production of spiral submerged arc welded pipes with double-sided welding, the driving force for the entire unit is provided by the feeder. Under the action of the feeder, the entire process from uncoiling to forming of the steel strip is gradually realized.
Guide Plates: The main function of guide plates is to provide stable guidance. Through their design structure, guide plates ensure that the steel strip maintains a smooth trajectory during conveyance, preventing deviation or fluctuation of the steel strip during its forward movement.
Forming Machine: The main function of the forming machine is to roll the steel strip into a spiral-shaped pipe blank. This is the first and most critical step in spiral welded pipe production. The forming machine gradually winds and presses the steel strip into a spiral-shaped pipe blank through its specific structure and working principle.
Internal and External Welding Machines: The main function of the internal welding machine is to perform double-sided welding on the spiral seam of the pipe blank that has been spirally curled and formed at room temperature.
Plasma Cutting Machine: The plasma cutting machine is characterized by high speed and efficiency. In the spiral welded pipe production line, when the steel pipe reaches a certain length (such as 8-12 meters), it needs to be cut off from the continuous production line. Plasma cutting can quickly complete this task, ensuring the continuity and efficiency of the production line.
