Inspection Methods for Small-diameter Spiral Steel Pipes

The completed spiral steel pipes require a visual inspection. The visual inspection of welded joints is a straightforward procedure primarily aimed at identifying defects on the welding surface and dimensional deviations. This can be done directly by observation and with the aid of gauges, magnifying glasses, and other tools. If there are slight defects on the surface of the weld seam, there is a likelihood of defects within the weld as well.

Physical Inspection Methods: Physical inspection methods utilize various physical phenomena for measurement or examination. The detection of internal defects in materials or workpieces is typically carried out using non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, which include ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, liquid penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, among others.

Surface Judgement, or Visual Inspection: The visual inspection of welded joints is a simple yet widely used inspection method and an essential part of final product inspection. It primarily focuses on identifying defects and dimensional deviations on the surface of weld seams. This is typically done by visual observation, with the assistance of standard templates, gauges, magnifying glasses, and other tools. If defects are present on the surface of the weld seam, there is a potential for defects within the weld as well.

Strength Testing of Pressure Vessels: In addition to leak tests, pressure vessels undergo strength testing. Two common types are hydraulic testing and pneumatic testing. Both methods can verify the tightness of welds in containers and pipelines operating under pressure. Pneumatic testing is more sensitive and faster than hydraulic testing, and the tested product does not require water drainage, making it particularly suitable for products with difficult drainage. However, pneumatic testing poses a higher risk than hydraulic testing. During testing, it is imperative to adhere to corresponding safety measures to prevent accidents.

In summary, these are the inspection methods for small-diameter spiral steel pipes. To ensure the safety of the inspection process, it is necessary for professionals to conduct the tests in a formal inspection environment, thereby preventing the occurrence of hazardous incidents.
