Methods to Remove White Rust

(1) For fresh white-colored "white rust":

Rinse the affected area with water

Wipe the zinc coating dry with a soft cloth

Apply a paste made of talcum powder and caustic soda using a brush

(2) For aged grayish "white rust":

Brush the corroded area with an aqueous solution of potassium acid tartrate and ammonium carbonate

Wipe off residue using a calcium carbonate-soaked sponge

Rinse thoroughly with water and dry completely
