The sources of various alloy components in molten zinc can be categorized into three main types: Firstly, there are the inevitable natural inclusions in commercial zinc or remelted zinc, such as lead, iron, cadmium, copper, arsenic, antimony, and tin. Secondly, certain alloy elements are intentionally added to the molten zinc for specific purposes. For example, adding different amounts of aluminum can alter the surface finish or microstructure of the galvanized coating. Thirdly, there are unavoidable impurities. These include other impurities and contaminants that may inadvertently be introduced into the galvanizing pot during the process of remelting zinc or cleaning up zinc scraps on the floor.
