The second part of the welded pipe manufacturing chapter 1. Vertical cutting

1. What is longitudinal slitting?
Slitting refers to the precise shearing of steel through the rotation of the cutter wheel and the movement of the movable tool holder.
2. Why do longitudinal slitting?
Using mechanical shear force, continuous steel coils or strips are cut along the length to form strips of specific widths. Easy to weld.
3. What are the raw materials for slitting?
Slitting uses strips produced from steel mills. Including but not limited to cold-rolled and hot-rolled carbon steel, silicon steel, tinplate, stainless steel and various metal materials after surface coating. These raw materials are cut into strips of the desired width during the slitting process to meet the needs of subsequent processing or use.
4. What equipment do I need for slitting?
(1) Feeding trolley: used to transport steel coils or strips to the production line.
(2) Uncoiler: Unfold the steel coil into a continuous steel strip.
(3) Leveling machine: Leveling the unfolded steel strip to eliminate unevenness.
(4) Slitting machine: the core equipment, responsible for shearing the steel strip along the length.
(5) Waste edge winder: collect the waste edge wire generated during the shearing process.
(6) Tensioner and winder: used to adjust the tension of the steel strip and wind the sheared strip into a roll.
(7) Unloading device: unload the finished coil from the production line.
5. How does the slitting workshop produce it?
The processing process of slitting mainly includes the following steps:
5.1. Feeding
Metal strips (e.g. steel coils) are transported to the starting position of the slitting line.
The strips are fed into the production line by means of a loading device such as a loading trolley or reel truck.
5.2. Open the book
The metal strip is unfolded using an uncoiling device, such as an uncoiler, to ensure that the strip is flat and wrinkle-free for subsequent shearing operations.
During the uncoiling process, it may be necessary to use a roller or holding device to secure the coil and prevent it from unwinding due to rotational inertia.
5.3. Longitudinal slitting
The slitting machine is the core equipment in the production line, which shears the metal strip longitudinally according to the preset size through a high-speed rotating blade. During the shearing process, it is necessary to precisely control the position of the blade relative to the strip to ensure shearing accuracy.
Disc shearing machine is a commonly used shearing equipment in slitting machines, and its blades usually use high-precision disc tool holders and high-quality imported accessories to ensure the quality of shearing.
5.4. Slitting
According to customer needs, the slitted metal strip is slitted, that is, a wide strip is divided into multiple narrow strips.
During the slitting process, it is necessary to ensure that the width, spacing and other parameters of the slitting meet the requirements.
5.5. Detection and sorting
The quality inspection of the slitted strip is carried out, including the inspection of thickness, width, surface quality, etc.
Unqualified strips need to be trimmed or rejected to ensure product quality.
5.6. Blanking and packing
The qualified metal strips are transported to the unloading device (loading trolley) and packaged.
The packed strips facilitate subsequent storage and transportation.
5.7. Auxiliary processes
Such as loop buffering, tension generation, winding waste edges, etc.
6. How to control the accuracy of slitting?
6.1. Tool selection and adjustment
Blade Clearance Setting: The clearance of the blade is closely related to the thickness and strength of the material being sheared. Reasonable gap setting
