Precautions for Welding Galvanized Pipes

Measures to ensure welding quality include:

Human Factor Control: Human factors are crucial in controlling the welding of galvanized pipes. Due to the lack of necessary post-welding control methods, it is easy to cut corners and compromise quality. Additionally, the unique characteristics of galvanized pipe welding make ensuring welding quality challenging. Therefore, before project commencement, a skilled welder with a valid boiler, pressure vessel, or equivalent welder certificate should be selected and provided with necessary technical training and instructions. On-site welder assessments and approvals should be conducted based on the boiler's conditions, adhering to the rules for welder examination for pressure vessels. Once approved, welders' access to the welding site must be stable and not subject to arbitrary changes.

Welding Material Control: Ensure that purchased welding materials come from reputable sources, accompanied by quality assurance certificates and conformity certificates, meeting process requirements. The acceptance, sorting, and distribution procedures for welding materials must be formal and complete. Strict control over the recovery of welding electrode stubs is essential to ensure proper flow and usage. Welding materials must be rigorously baked according to process specifications, and the amount used for welding should not exceed half a day's worth.

Welding Machines: Welding machines are essential tools for welding and must be reliable in performance, meeting process requirements. Welding machines must be equipped with qualified ammeters and voltmeters to ensure the correct execution of the welding process. Welding cables should not be excessively long, and welding parameters should be adjusted for longer cables.

Welding Process Methods: Ensure strict adherence to specialized operating methods for galvanized pipe welding. Conduct pre-weld groove inspections according to welding procedures, control welding process parameters and operating methods, inspect visual quality post-welding, and perform non-destructive testing (NDT) when necessary. Monitor the welding quality of each pass and control the quantity of welding consumables used.

Welding Environment Control: Ensure that the temperature, humidity, and wind speed during welding meet process requirements. If conditions do not meet these requirements, welding should not be performed.
