Three important processes of steel pipe industry construction (1) The foundation period in the 1950s

Ansteel is the cradle of China's steel pipe industry. In the restoration and construction design of Ansteel, the government proposed that the Soviet Union supply a complete set of equipment to build Ansteel's five steel pipe production workshops, including the φ 114mm fully automatic hot-rolled seamless steel pipe unit, cold-rolled seamless steel pipe, resistance welded pipe, furnace welded pipe, and spiral welded pipe. Later, due to adjustments in the national plan, the furnace welded pipe workshop was cancelled, and the construction of the φ 60mm and φ 102mm resistance welded pipe units, as well as the φ 650mm spiral welded pipe unit, was relocated. But all the preliminary work before the construction of these three units was completed at Ansteel. Ansteel hired Soviet design and production experts, and the government also sent people to study in the Soviet Union, thus cultivating a large number of talents in various aspects of steel pipe production technology, laying the foundation for the development of China's steel pipe industry in terms of technology and management. The Ansteel φ 114mm automatic pipe rolling unit was completed and put into operation on December 26, 1953, and reached its design output (6.19X10 ⁴ t/a) in 1956. In 1954, petroleum oil pipes were produced and began to provide pipes to geological, chemical, military and other departments. The second cold drawing workshop of Ansteel was designed and constructed by China in response to the urgent needs of the country, and was completed and put into operation in February 1957. The first cold drawn seamless steel pipe workshop of Ansteel was completed and put into operation on July 1, 1958. The resistance welded pipe unit relocated to another city was built and put into operation in Beijing and Tianjin in 1958, and the spiral welding machine unit was built and put into operation in Baoji, Shaanxi in 1959. In 1958, in order to solve the problem of the country's need for a large number of seamless pipes, Ansteel Seamless Steel Pipe Factory successively referred to the equipment drawings of Sujiatun Steel Pipe Factory and designed and manufactured four sets of 76mm perforating machines using waste materials and equipment. In 1959, these devices were transferred to Sichuan, Yunnan, Shanxi and other places. In addition to Ansteel's construction of a φ 140mm automatic pipe rolling unit, the seeds of steel pipe production were sown in Beijing, Tianjin, Shaanxi and other places. Ansteel provides manpower and technical support for steel pipe production, making it the cradle of China's steel pipe industry.
