Why are there specific requirements for the water quality when cooling galvanized steel pipes?

The cooling water used for galvanized steel pipes should preferably be clear river water or groundwater. Water with high turbidity, chroma, suspended solids, and oil slicks should not be used. The pH level should be maintained within the range of 6.5-8. If water with high turbidity, chroma, suspended solids, and oil slicks is used for cooling, it will cause significant contamination on the surface of the galvanized layer, hinder the passivation effect, and significantly increase the risk of cracks on the galvanized surface (cracks are prone to occur on the galvanized layer when the temperature of the galvanized steel pipe is too high and the cooling water temperature is too low). When the pH level falls outside this range, it will also have a certain adverse effect on the surface of the galvanized layer. Therefore, the water quality of the cooling water must be strictly controlled.
